Hello Families! I am having so much fun working with your children, and having the opportunity to watch them grow each and every day; they are such a great group of kids!
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. We hope you will find it helpful in regard to knowing what your children are learning about in school!
Homework Policy/Expectations
Math - Students receive a math worksheet every night but Friday. They are due to Mrs. Johnson on the following day.
Reading - Students should read nightly for a minimum of 30 minutes. Please have your student fill out his or her reading log on a nightly basis, and please sign on the log to confirm his or her reading minutes. This log can be found in the back flap of your child's red communication folder. In addition, this log should travel between home and school so I can monitor your child's fluency and reading progress.
Word Study - Students are given a new Word Study homework page every Monday. They have one week to study their words and complete the "checklist of activities" that are listed on the homework page. Please have any written activities completed in your child's Word Study Notebook (small blue composition book), as I will also collect these from time to time. On Friday when the homework is due, students will also be given a spelling test on ten of the words that they have been studying.
Social Studies/Science - Your child will also occasionally have social studies or science homework. Check your child's agenda to see the actual due date of these assignments (they will often not be due the very next day).
*We hope to keep your child's nightly homework routine to 1 hour a night. If any assignment is taking longer than the anticipated length of time, please sign your name on the assignment so that we know that your student put forth the appropriate amount of effort. Thank you!
*Please sign your child's agenda and reading log on a nightly basis, thank you!!
